How to copy and paste emoji

Click an emoji above and it is copied to your clipboard straight away. Paste it with Ctrl+V on Windows or Cmd+V on a Mac — or long-press and tap Paste on a phone. It works in WhatsApp, Instagram, X, Discord, Gmail, Word, Slack and anywhere else that accepts text.

Shortcuts worth knowing

• Press / to jump straight to the search box.
• Shift + click several emoji to build a string, then copy them all at once.
• Right-click (or long-press on mobile) any person or hand emoji for skin tones.

Why some emoji look different

An emoji is a character, not a picture. Your device draws it with its own font — so the same emoji looks one way on an iPhone, another on Android and another on Windows. The emoji you copy is identical everywhere; only the artwork changes.
